Oprah To Expand Her Empire With Organic Products

Oprah Winfrey is looking to add more to her empire that already includes a tv network, a satellite radio show, lifestyle website, journal & even a school in South Africa.

The media mogul, 58, is about to explore the world of organic products. Last month, several applications to trademark Oprah's Organics were filed to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Organization, the Every day Mail reported. These organics included bath soaps, sunscreen, massage oils, hair products, & food products such as organic salad dressings, frozen vegetables, soups, drinks & snack dips.

An application for an Oprah's Farm trademark for beverage & catering services, & another for Oprah Harvest have also been submitted recently. The addresses of these productions include the Wilshire Boulevard location of Winfrey's business & the Chicago office of Winfrey's Harpo Inc.

Winfrey's empire, which is now worth $2.7 billion, includes a girl's school in South Africa as well as hundreds of acres of land in Maui that has a large farm as well as a bed & breakfast, Mail reported.

"The trademarks were filed for Oprah's farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow & distribute produce on Maui & throughout the Hawaiian Islands," a representative of Winfrey told The New York Post.

The media mogul spent most of 2012 splitting her time between Montecito, Calif., & New Orleans, according to the Mail.

Winfrey is starring in a film called "The Butler," which is due out in 2013. They also topped Forbes' list of highest-paid celebrities this year for earning an estimated $165 million. The media mogul became a millionaire at the age of 32, after her talk show went national.
